ALM OIL MILL EFFLUENT is one of the major pollutants waste that rages the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) producing countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. Such liquid is generated during the CPO milling when steam and hot water are used to clean the fruit and separate the shell from the palm fruit and thereafter is collected in waste ponds before to be disposed.
SUSTAINABLE DISPOSAL OF THIS WASTE IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR CPO PRODUCERS
Palm Oil Mill Effluent is nowadays used as sustainable feedstock to generate biodiesel especially in Europe whereby the quote of bio-diesel on the fuel mix determined by the EU regulators has been constantly increasing during the last decade and an even more important higher target has been determined for 2020.
The Company and its partners already active on the European biofuels market are planning in 2019 to merge their experiences and networks on the two regions to start off-taking Palm Oil Mill Effluent from Indonesia and supply its portfolio of European fuel refiners who will have to face the challenge of meeting their procurements targets given the expected increase in bio-diesel demand.
The Company is currently working to identify its suppliers among Indonesian CPO producers either among those ones who already adopt processes to generate POME with marketable specifications or among that ones who have not yet chosen those processes but they would start doing so finding on this an opportunity to ecologically dispose of this pollutant waste.
IDENTIFYING SUITABLE LOCATIONS FOR COLLECTING THE PALM OIL MILL EFFLUENT IS THE KEY FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT
